Look at it this way, if you've got bare patches or an entirely bare lawn, would you want to leave it bare until next spring? Even if it's the middle of the summer, go ahead and plant grass seed there if grass is what you want. You may not get the growth that you would if you planted in other seasons, but you'll get something. With some watering or rain every day, the grass will start to grow, and some roots will already be in place by the time a better grass growing season comes along.

Yes, but it is much harder to keep the grass alive in the summer than if you plant the grass seed in the spring or fall because it is hotter and the weather is drier. Water the grass regularly and use some straw as mulch and it should be fine.

yes. water at a MINIMUM of every other day until the seed sprouts
water early in the morning - watering in the evening allows mold and fungus to grow. grass does it's growing in the morning, and then sun will prevent the fungus/mold

yeah ive been doing mine for the last month ..after accidentally killing various patches lawn with round up..everything is good again now..make sure you water it though..preferablly in evenings
