Skin Conditions - February 2007

I have bad acne on my back,shoulders and arms and a little on my chest. I am really uncomfortable wearing a bathingsuit and spagetti straped shirts, and i really want rid of it. i want something that is easy,effective and cost effective. Please help.

My little brother got this really bad toe infection where his toenail is starting to grom into his skin and puss is starting to come out. He syas it hurts really bad. Is there anything he can put on it so that it will go away?

I have acne that is red and inflamed and raised. It has been there forever and it will not go away no matter what I do. I know that I have a few little scars that are pretty unnoticable, but i'm just wondering how I can tell the difference. I really hope it's not scars.

I'm 17, and I have never had a "tan" before. I have been going to the tanning bed since October at around 10-17 each session 3 times a week. I just am getting dark. My mom noticed how dark my legs were today. She said that I needed to lay off for a while and just go 2 times each week. (mon. & fri.) I am scared that I have damaged my skin. I have very soft and clear facial skin. I am afraid that I have ruined it. My mom assures me that just a base tan won't hurt my skin, but if I get any darker I will age faster. Is that true or not? I feel like crying. Help me!

I know tanning beds are "bad." Please don't tell me that, just tell me a solution.

I have steam heat from a boiler in my apartment, hard wood floors throughout, and a horrible case of dry itchy skin. Will a small humidifier in my bedroom while I sleep help to alleviate the dry skin? It's becoming absolutely unbareable and I don't know what more to do to help it. I put lotion on my back one to two times a day. But, that's not even helping. And, I just can't stop scratching it.

I think its infected, its red and a little swollen. im getting nervous about it. Is there a way to prevent further infection(if it is) without taking off my earrings?

I have been told to start putting cream on my cold sores as soon as I start feeling the itch in my lip. However, sometimes I feel my lip itching and a cold sore does not develop at all, so I am wondering should I apply the cream anyway?

I need to tan up my skin and have been readin the pros and cons of both methods. Generally when I am outside in the sun my skin just turns pink and I burn, so a Tanning Bed is making me wonder how effective I could actually get a tan.

I have been reading up quite a bit on Spray on Tans. I have heard people say they make you orange and I have heard some people say if you use the lotion properly then it generally looks pretty good.

Can anyone tell me from personal experiances which method would be best for me. I am fairly white but don't have any dry scan or anything.

I don't want to have it lanced-ouch!!! It keeps starting to scab over though and then I have to pick the scab off. Hot baths seem to help, any other suggestions? If it does close up, should I try nicking it with a sterile blade? There is still a lot of icky, thick puss draining but I am taking antibiotics. My Dr. told me not to squeeze it but this is the only way to really get all that puss out there. He said this could actually make it go deeper inside, is this true? Also, what helps with the pain? He wouldn't prescribe painkillers and extra strenght Tylenol is not working!

I usually have dandruff in the winter, but the past few months, it's been worst. It seems to really have gotten out of control the past month or so. My beautician usually treat my scalp with a 'dry and itchy" conditioner and shampoo. I m really concerned thinkiing it might be more than dandruff. Could it be a fungus? If so what can I do about it, who can treat it?
