My 8yr old male shepard smells awful. His rump is dry and dandery. Is there a shampoo or treatment for this?

The smell of the dog is extremely offensive. At times it smells the whole house. Bathing more often seems to dry out the skin and produce dander. Please help.

Take him to a vet and get him checked over, his anal glands may need emptying, that is the most common reason for a smelly dog! Use a conditioning shampoo and start giving him cod liver oil capsules every day. Feed him sardines in oil twice a week.
