I have steam heat from a boiler in my apartment, hard wood floors throughout, and a horrible case of dry itchy skin. Will a small humidifier in my bedroom while I sleep help to alleviate the dry skin? It's becoming absolutely unbareable and I don't know what more to do to help it. I put lotion on my back one to two times a day. But, that's not even helping. And, I just can't stop scratching it.

A humidifier will help, drinking lots of water will help as well.

Also soak in a warm bathtub for 20 minutes, then when you get out, rub in some Aquaphor or Eucerin cream (within 3 minutes of getting out of the tub).

I have a wood stove which produces a LOT of dry heat in my house. I have to sleep with a humidifier on or I wake up in the middle of the night with a bloody nose and dry mouth. I also have the horrible dry itchy skin.

I found that the humidifier does help but also I bought a sugar scrub from Bath and Body Works and applied this in the shower, i use it once every other week. It is oil based so it completely hydrated my skin. I also use Oil Of Olay body wash every day. It is very creamy and has something in it that seems to work great for me. You can still feel the lotion on your skin from it even after you get out of the shower and dry off.

Good Luck!
