This is what I do which really works:

Before you go to bed, soak a flannel with hot (but not too hot!) water and hold it onto your lips for 30 seconds. Then, carefully wipe to the side and all the dead skin will come off. Don't wipe too hard if you've got really cracked lips though, otherwise they'll bleed. Then put loads of vaseline on and let it soak in overnight. Keep doing this every night and it will really work!

Very sore and painful particularly this time of year!

Try beeswax lip salve-it tends to work very well and stays on longer. Available from most chemists, costs £2-3.

Always try and keep them moisturised.

You could try a lip salve that is for cold sores as well because sore lips can develop into cold sores and are unsightly as well as painful.

Put a good layer of lip balm on before bed and let it soak in over night. Also make sure you put plenty on before you go out in this cold weather. Vaseline will do.

this is often a sign that you're body is trying to tell you it's dehydrated, so water would be good. Also it's often a sign for a need to take some essentila faty acids (EFA's) such as Flaxeed Oil or fush oils along with zinc & vitamin B6.
(ur local health shop should be able to advise you).
I think for lip balms Jurlique do a good one that contains natural ingredients.(please see link for more info).
Other than that Carmex are supposed to be good but I haven't tried it myslef.

Carmex lip balm is great. It soothes and heals, is pretty inexpensive, and very portable.

Also, drink plenty of water during the day to keep your body hydrated and prevent chapped lips.
