for those of you who use this (rap/hip hop section) regularly, would u guys support a proposal to Yahoo separating the rap/hip hop section, or even creating a new "Hip Hop-culture" section alltogether?

im thinkin of posting something like that in the Y!A Suggestions board, but only if alot of the users in this section would like that..if so, just leave a sentence or two of what u think is key that i should include in the suggestion.

if you're just a hater or troll patrollin this section.. i'll save u the time by sayin it: "rap is crap", cant spell crap without rap,

why has rap changed its message?

when it started out, people rapped about their problems in order to change society, or inform others about the problems they faced growing up in a bad neighborhood..

Now rap is all about "pimping" "hos" and $$$$$..??

Do you think this diminishes its effectiveness or the effectiveness of those using rap as a medium for social change?

The dirty south has a long ways to go before they can have some credability and longevity in the rap game. The little shine there getting is being attacked by real hip hop heads everyday, compared to the east when it was in heavy rotation, people knew and felt how real it was. I tell you what, to end any doubt that the south has any real mc's, I'll name 5 that will sure dominate over anybody you list.
1. Rakim
2. KRS-1
3. Jay-Z
4. Common
5. Talib
These are the well known mc's, don't get me started on the ones underground.

I heard a song in my friend's car. She said it was called Boots With Fur, but I've looked everywhere and can't find it....so that's obviously not what it's called. It's a hip hop song and it does say "boots with fur" in it, at least that's what it sounds like, any ideas?

We all know that this genre of music is real heavy on sampling... In you opinion, do you think the "rap stars" is stealing ideas from other's or use people to write for them? Or do you think the people involved in that part of the music industry is able to write stuff themselfes?

Have your say:

I know that there is a lot of dissing among the Genres. Which is very ironic. Since Run-Dmc and Aerosmith were the First Rock/Rap collaboration to get a big hit. Eminem and Elton John did a song together. Eminem also used an old Aerosmith song and put some flows behind it and Got a hit song. Now Lil John has came out with Crunk Rock. Which is Rap with heavy guitars in the beat. And if everyone is saying Party like a Rockstar, even rappers. Why is there beef between the two Genres. Other than the stupid close-minded people out there who only listen to one type of music. I want facts as to which one is Better. Opinions are good on this Question. But dont type and simple minded, ignorant, or stupid comment.

For Me, it's that horrible "back like that" that Ghost did with Ne-YO (NEYO!!)....what a way to ruin a (mostly) hardcore album, not only have a horrible, sappy pop song, (BUT WITH NEYO!!)..It made me so mad I almost didn't buy More Fish (but I did, and it was good)....I also hated OOchie Wally, but Nas had already gone pop before that, and the album sucked anyway, so it didn't bother me that much (I will forever be haunted by the fact that one of my favorite artists of all time, Ghostface Killah, The Ironman, Tony Starks, would let NEYO!! on his cd...(I'm so angry, i'm a blast supreme clientele)

Im giving 00 dollars(100 dollars guys!!!) For people to stop dissing Soulja Boy.

Im giving 200 dolars to Escobar, for bein a Soulja Boy follower for many years lol.

I didnt mean to title the question with the word haters but I knew that would grab ur attention. Come on yall. We need to lay off homeboy. We need to focus on Common, Nas and AZ. We need to focus more on what we like, not what we DISLIKE.

I’ve posted this before but only really got a couple answers and a post got deleted before I could read the answers, so I’m posting again

The fact that Lil' Kim got 5 mics for The Naked Truth and Lauyrn Hill didn't get it for the miseducation of.... is proof the source really has no credibility anymore. Back in 1996 they didn’t give Jay-Z Reasonable Doubt 5 Mics, it got five mics years later when they went back and re-reviewed it same with Life After Death. So I am going to list albums that I think were robbed of the 5 Mic award and they should go back and give 5 mics,

All Balls Don't Bounce -Aceyalone this is his most reveared album
Doe or Die -AZ
Paul's Boutique -Beastie Boys there first LP was one of the 42.
Lifestylez Ov Da Poor and Dangerous -Big L should get 5 Mics out of respect to the lyric
Capital Punishment -Big Pun
Black Star -Black Star only got 3.5 Mics from the source-Duh
Ghetto Music: The Blueprint of Hip Hop -BDP the original Blueprint first two got 5 Mic
Resurrection -Common Since this also did not get 5 Mics
Funcrusher Plus -Company Flow this could of but it didn't.
Cypress Hill -Cypress Hill also did not recieve 5 Mics
He's the DJ, I'm the Rapper -Will -The Source just does not understand
Dead Serious -Das Efx also a classic album
3 Feet High and Rising -De La Soul they just forgot to give it 5 Mic
Black on Both Sides -Mos Def could of but did not
Reachin' (A New Refutation of Time and Space) -Digable Planets
The Marshal Mathers LP- Eminem- It was a white thing
The Slim Shady LP -Eminem the Source just hates him
Innercity Griots -Freestyle Fellowship great underground rap
Regulate...G Funk Era -Warren G also could of won it.
Daily Operation -Gangstarr had none could of had 4
Liquid Swords -GZA just another one they forgot
Soul Food -Goodie Mob
The Sun Rises in the East -Jeru the Damaja deserved 5 Mics
Quality Control -Jurasic 5
Return of the Boom Bap -KRS One
Reflection Eternal -Talib Kweli
Funky Technician -Lord Finesse
Hell on Earth -Mobb Deep
Stress: The Extinction Agenda -Organized Confusion
ATLiens -Outkast
Mecca and the Soul Brother -Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth
Illadelph Halflife -The Roots
Runaway Slave -Showbiz and A.G.
93 'Til Infinity -Souls of Mischief
Midnight Marauders -A Tribe could have 3rd one
Life Is...Too Short -Too Short could of.
Fear of a Black Planet - Public Enemy
Thug Life: Vol. 1 -Thug Life
Here Come the Lords -The Lords of the underground
Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde -The Pharcyde
The Main Ingredient- Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth
Step In the arena- Gang Starr
Hard to Earn – Gang Starr
Center of Attention –InI
Blowout Comb- Digable Planets
Ghostface Killah- Supreme Clientele
Lauryn Hill – The miseducation of Lauryn Hill
Livin’ Proof- Group Home –Hey Lil’ Dap and the nutcracker may not be the best lyricists but they’re real and should get 5 for DJ Premier’s production alone, plus they’re better mc’s than Lil’ Kim, and little Kim has had Ghost writers. You could argue that Dr. Dre has had ghost writers but that’s because his main role is producer not mc, and Kim’s main role is mc so there is no excuse.

If Kim gets 5 for the naked truth than Rah Digga should get 5 for Dirty Harriet

What would you add/ subtract to the list?
What do you think?
