The dirty south has a long ways to go before they can have some credability and longevity in the rap game. The little shine there getting is being attacked by real hip hop heads everyday, compared to the east when it was in heavy rotation, people knew and felt how real it was. I tell you what, to end any doubt that the south has any real mc's, I'll name 5 that will sure dominate over anybody you list.

3. Jay-Z
4. Common
5. Talib
These are the well known mc's, don't get me started on the ones underground.

This is a question to get people talking and also a response to the guy that said the dirty is the best lyrically. LB is not considered dirty south kid, that I know.

Jay, you mean to tell me ludi or ti can compare to krs or rakim lyrically, man just say no. The point is the south have a few cat's that can flow put they don't have nothing on the east coast.

before the hate comes rollin in, let me say that all regions have had a time on top..its like a heavyweight belt, nobody keeps the title, somebody gets knocked off (we saw that with the east and the west)......the South has been figured out, everyone else is startin to catch up (as far as depth goes)...look for somebody else to to take the title within the next year

Man you have some good Southern artists now..please don't knock on the South like that. T.I., OutKast, ScarFace and the Ghetto Boyz, come now. Now i agree that some of the newcomers of the South( hurricane chris, souljaboy, yingyang twins, etc.) can't name them all, but they are a lot of them. Anyways, i feel like they shouldn't be classified as rappers because all they spit are nursery rhymes... Oh yeah..you forgotten about Nas.

yo. homie. chill on them shits. you act like the south don't have nothin. We do have Outkast, Scarface, Little Brother Cunninglynguists, Dead Prez, etc homie. They aint as good as the people you named, but that don't mean they automatically suck. And Common is from Chicago, thats midwest homie. Preciate cha.
LB is from Durham, North Carolina. Them shits is in the South homie. So yeah, as a matter of fact they are Southern homie.

yea forreal, those guys have real lyrics n stuff...the south is like tite beats i ffeel em, but they rap is like shouttin the same thing over n over..south beats is sick...flow mayb could b better at least teh southern mainstream..
