can rap or croon be winning all these awards and why r the artist being shot or going to jail...it aint music...its more of the underground poet stuff from the late 50'sor 60's

Rap is music and rap is a culture. You must not be listening to the right stuff because I don't see Kayne, Common, Jay-Z, and others getting shot or shooting at people. It had to be good enough for 3 6 Mafia to win that Academy Award. Open your mind up and stop trying to knock the music.

Because the majority of rap is Simple Minded B.S. That no hardly any thought went into. And for heaven sake the U.S. POPULATION WOULD HAVE TO THINK ABOUT WHAT THEY ARE LISTENING TO. First of all you are listening to the wrong rappers.(Best ever is Jay-Z) Second of all it's a culture and it's cooler than whatever country or whatever your listening to. Now I don't like to listen to a song entirely made of rap but rap goes good with any GOOD style of music. All you rap haters are out numbered so you better shut up, and deal with it.

Wow !!!!! ..are you so very correct !!!!!----Rap is not music & has no elements of music such as notes, arrangements, melody, lyrics, vocalization, instrumentation or harmony. I defy anyone to show me a rapper who can actually sing on key ?? or actually write, compose ,read & arrange music notes ?? or who can actually play musical instruments ???----You are also correct in that in the '50s & 60s many black, white & hispanic vocal groups came out of urban areas. These groups, some of whom were multi-racial, did not have money for instruments......so they crooned harmony love songs " acapella " ( without instruments ) using their vocal abilities to imitate the sounds of instruments. Instead of singing...rappers shout profane half-rhymed words into a microphine---Instead of imitating instruments like the acapella groups did & still do....rappers make ( as you so expertly phrased it ) noise & spiting/grunting sounds into a microphone....The most pathetic part is that, again as you indicated, rappers are being shot and/or jailed because they have aspired to be gangstas & pimps for so long that they start to act out these fantasies and are promptly shot or arrested under their real names ( like Flava Flav was a couple of years ago ) instead of the insipid, childish nicknames that they call each other...similar to the names that kindergarten kids call each other in the sandbox----As you said....it sure ain't music---I have no dea what it is or why anyone would like it ???????

That is your opinion,and you are in title to it. But i like it, myself. There is allot of music you could put together with rap. Rock, classical, even polka. Maybe you just need to diversify your music.
