Im talking about the stuff from 80's and 90's. Rap isnt nearly as good as it was in the 90's. What happened.... I mean what changed.

Everyone look at this one, there's some *DA DIVA* chick (or man) on here who's Charlie Checkem's "friend", she (or he) has posted questions like "do you think it's fair to judge gay rappers"..moreover, this person could be Checkem cuz the profile was made YESTERDAY!! ** NEW DETAILS :Even if it isn't, this person is a man because in one of his answers says he is gay, and in one of the questions say's "My rapper friend is with benefits" CHARLIE GOT BUSTED!!

here's the link to the profile, from there you can look at his Q&A http://answers.yahoo.com/my/profile;_ylt=Av17CsQJ540GYSQHKv5DbwT07BR.;_ylv=3?show=244LYuBtaa

I was just pondering this today. What sense does it make? They're usually just inside jokes or things only a few people would get. Sometimes they're from famous people- but other times they're completely mysterious. I guess I just don't get it?

I'm a HUGE Kanye fan and have been for years. I love the guy, don't get me wrong. I own College Dropout, Late Registration and Graduation. I've seen him live in concert and have posters on my wall. I used to scream when I saw his music on MTV like THANK-YOU FOR FINALLY PLAYING SOMETHING DECENT! but now I don't know... it's weird. Him hanging out at fashion shows, getting married, posing with Lilly Allen, collaborating with Daft Punk. Even just the pictures of his home in some Life Style mag got to me (I read his blog) it's like he's a different guy now! Remember when he did Jesus Walks, remember the video for Slow Jamz? I loved him then, but now everyone's jumped on the Kanye bandwagon I'm starting to dislike him, BUT I STILL LOVE HIM!!! Anyone feel the same?

Since the south basically all the casual listener of "rap" listens to right now, here are two albums that I think should happen to help bring NY and LA "hip-hop" back. What would you think if these dudes hooked back up, elaborate on each choice.

Snoop Dogg hooking back up with Dr. Dre doing an album completely produced by him. Think about Doggystyle

Jeru the Damaja hooking back up with DJ Premier doing an album completely produced by him, think about Sun Rises in the east & Wrath of the math.

Sorry Wayne Your Not There Yet regardless of what all of you’re superfans think. I’m sure by now you’ve all seen or heard of MTV’s “Hot List” or whatever it’s called. And I’m sure many of you were left scratching your head after reading the list. But no one should really be surprised considering Main-Stream Hip-Hop audiences have the attention span of an ADD riddled child sippin’ Red Bull. let’s not confuse “hot” with greatness. Greatness is reserved for those that changed the game, that refused to conform to the various political power players that govern the music industry and those that have shown longevity and relevance from first album to last. There is no arguing that Lil Wayne is a hot artist right now. But take heed of the word “hot” - Infinitely different than legendary or great. Many an artist has had the “hot” label tattooed on their back for a time. But to keep that hotness and parlay that into greatness is the real challenge I think people are confusing being hot with having a certain level of skill.” Can Wayne parlay his prodigious mixtape releases into a classic LP? Neither “Tha Carter” nor “Tha Carter 2” were classic albums. To reach past just “hot” status, Wayne will need the forthcoming “Carter 3” to be a masterpiece to solidify himself as one of the game’s greats. Without that notch on his belt, Wayne fans will still sound hollow when debating his greatness

seriously, when you look at dmx, he leaves broken multies, he speeds up his flow randomly, cut's his lines off, just randomly has noises in the background, starts and stops his flow, and yet I really enjoy his music...

Can We officially label him the (fundamentally) worst good rapper ever?

2007-10-04 07:20:32 · 12 answers · asked by evil conscience *spit squadron* 4

Cuz, I'm a total sucker for that street music stuff....(seriously, I would probably rather go bump "It's dark and hell is hot" over say..."one for all", maye that's why I never got into this "Kanye/Lupe rap stuff"...truthfully, I would probably rather go bump "Doctors Advocate" over say..."the Miseducation of Lauryn Hill" (it's hard for me to get into this r'nb/rap stuff) That's probably why I like Beanie Siegel (even though he has that STUPID habit of repeating the same word over and over at the end of his lines)

Is this my own thing, or are there other people into this as much as I am?

Almost Nobody Ever Bring's Up 2Pacalypse Now When Talking About Pac People Alway's Bring Up All Eyez On Me , Me Against The World , Makavelli The 7 Day Theroy , I'm definitely the only one that feels this way, but I thin 2Pacalypse Now is 2Pac's best album after Me Against the World. I say that because Tupac was a much better socially conscious/political rapper than he was as a gangsta rapper. THERE, I SAID IT!! I guess that's why I love this album so much.

I kinda like it's sound. Like I stated earlier, it makes more raw. Once you listen to 2Pac raps, you could tell that there is a huge influence of preceding California heroes such as Ice Cube, Ice-T, or even Paris. 2Pac adressed social problems like police brutality, teenage pregnancy, poverty, drug use, etc. more so than he did on any of his succeeding albums. He may not have been able to beat any of the formentioned MCs in a rap battle, but with his thought provoking lyrics, it doesn't matter at all. Listen to the albums more powerful moments like "Words of Wisdom" or "Brenda's Got a Baby" and you'll agree. There are a few joints that are straight up gangsta tracks though. They're not as compelling or as good as the other more insightful joints, but they ain't bad. There's even a feel-good track within the militant ones ("If My Homie Calls"). The way I see it, this is probably one of the last great albums of the Afrocentric, right fist era of hip-hop (assuming it came after Apocalypse 91...). I don't know how many people will agree this one is a sleeper classic. A lot of people didn't see it back in the day, probably because of the production. A lot of people won't see it now, because of the production, the rookie-sounding flow in some of the songs, and the fact that it just ain't as great as Me Against the World.

Regarding the album, it's Tupac's rawest album. It's sound is a little unpolished, but that makes it more raw in my opinion. The production is unfinessed, and considering the tracks that Dr. Dre, ATCQ, Large Professor, and the Bomb Squad were doing, it sounds a little dated, even for '91
