Since the south basically all the casual listener of "rap" listens to right now, here are two albums that I think should happen to help bring NY and LA "hip-hop" back. What would you think if these dudes hooked back up, elaborate on each choice.

Snoop Dogg hooking back up with Dr. Dre doing an album completely produced by him. Think about Doggystyle

Jeru the Damaja hooking back up with DJ Premier doing an album completely produced by him, think about Sun Rises in the east & Wrath of the math.

I think a group that needs to make a whole album is the Crooklyn Dodgers. The 2nd incarnation (Jeru, Chubb Rock, and OC). I think that'll be a strong return from the NYC with that group. I know 9th Wonder brought together Memphis Bleek, Jean Grae, and Mos Def for the 3rd Incarnation, but I think the 2nd is the best. Sadly, I think Cali has fallen off, hyphy hasn't really caught on nationwide like crunk and snap have caught on and they're putting out the same stuff everybody else is IMO. I listen to some MURS and Zion I, but I can't really get down with much hyphy right now.

I agree with you definetely on the snoop/ dre. they were great together. I have to admit I am not of fan of snoop's music after murder was the case maybe after doggfather, (i was still oping for better from him) so I think working w/ dre again would be good.

Premo and Damaja is good too. But I think that the East has itself set up to come back in full effect even though I don't think that they have ever fallen off.

The West has The Game but they do need more good music coming from over there.

Here's the breakdown, east, west, mid, and south all had artist that defined that area of the country but nowadays the landscape has shifted to, for ex. rakim moving to the west but he would still have that east coast swagger. So it really comes down to what style and feel of music you like. When it comes to collaborations:
1. Eric B w/ Rakim (hasn't been the same w/ out eric)
2. Epmd (finally new cd next year)
3. PE w/ the bomb squad
4. Main Source w/ Large Pro
5. Pete Rock w/ Cl Smooth

Jeru & Premo would be a savage album
I loved Doggystyle, but Snoop has lost his appeal.

The West Coast also has an up and coming artist who is hungry and raw...Bishop Lamont
Him and The Game are gonna put the West back on the map

Maybe some NY heads can talk about the East Coast hip-hop coming back, IDK too much about it

Snoop can do his own thing

I'd love to see Jeru and Premier together again.

How about Eric B. & Rakim?
