I was just pondering this today. What sense does it make? They're usually just inside jokes or things only a few people would get. Sometimes they're from famous people- but other times they're completely mysterious. I guess I just don't get it?

They want everyone to know that they really do have friends and they really do get phone calls from them.

Usually this is a marketing ploy. More than music, you're getting a taste of people's personal lives. People consider this a sort of plus in teh world of music these days, much like the addition of posters in the days of LP Vinyl.

THEY DO THAT BECUZ IT MAKES THEM SOUND MORE INTERESTING TO HEAR THEMSELVES TALK ON THEIR CD'S
