for those of you who use this (rap/hip hop section) regularly, would u guys support a proposal to Yahoo separating the rap/hip hop section, or even creating a new "Hip Hop-culture" section alltogether?

im thinkin of posting something like that in the Y!A Suggestions board, but only if alot of the users in this section would like that..if so, just leave a sentence or two of what u think is key that i should include in the suggestion.

if you're just a hater or troll patrollin this section.. i'll save u the time by sayin it: "rap is crap", cant spell crap without rap,

Well to answer your question while being fair to all, I would have to say that yes to an extent, rap today is crap. 90% of all rap today either demeans woman, stereotypes a culture, and ultimately maximizes on the ignorance and stupidity of the artists themselves. However, there was a time when rap really had a message and rap was hip hop. Although some may consider this an ancient era, there are still some hip-hop/rap artist that remain true to the game, like Common, LL Cool J, Lil' Ma etc. I think that while hip hop has gone about it's journey, transcending genres and generations, hip hop forgot one very important thing: Hip hop forgot to grow up. They try to make it like a youth thing where you've got people just trying to be hot a not to having a message,a soul, or a purpose. Yes, it has changed over the years, but what if what people listen to in rap today is considered hip hop, Than the entire purpose of hip hop is now all but destroyed. It was meant to shine light in dark situation; to show another aspect of urban culture.....to celebrate it embrace it and learn from, and grow with it. But now people have become victim to it: The stagnancy and the lack of growth. I don't know if you can separate the two, but if rap is a reflection of hip hop than society must change.

Yep, i had a question like this.

I'd say separate the rap and hip hop sections. If you did hip hop culture, you'll get idiots asking for fashion advice claiming its part of the culture.

In the suggestion include the difference between crank dat soulja boy and how many mc's and maybe throw in a robocop reference for comedic effect.

I feel you...that eliminate some of the silly questions...but its going to be hard to do man...I have just started to ignore most of the questions unless its someone who I know gots some hip hop sense...but do what you can do...

On second though...I agree with Blackheart...lets roll with this... there are always going to be silly questions on here but we cant do much about it....Maybe...and I say MAYBE some will actually learn a thing or two while being on here...lets spread some knowledge...We can always bomb on the haters that come through here anyways.

I agree with primetim, let's have a separate section for rap since it's so popular, and it'll leave more room in the other sections for their fogey music! :)
