My mom wants me to make her a CD for Christmas.
She likes artists like the Cranberries, Indigo Girls, Eminem, Enya, Annie Lennox...

I posted a buy or sell question the other day askin if the underground is better than the mainstream (in today's time). And for the most part I had people agree, but one comment stuck out to me from Holiday Dilla:

"my feeling has always been, that you can start out underground...hell even be there for five years, but if your music aint out for the masses, then what good is it to me.../ they [mainstream] got something about them that is appealing to the masses"

now my question is for anybody who agrees with this statement... If you believe that statement, than can you really complain about all the soulja boy's and DJ UNK's and MIMS' that we have out now? Cuz I mean, that's whats appealing to the masses, thats what the record labels feel is hot- you know??? I'm not tryin to start no huge rift or nothin like that cuz *I KNOW* there's talent in the mainstream, just like its garbage in the underground... but what I am sayin is, you only gettin what you asked for...

I am putting on a Christmas-y themed concert / gig tomorrow night. I need about an hour and a half worth of material. Its just a one man show, just me on my guitar.
I reckon I do have enough material to keep me going, but to be on the safe side, I would like to get to know some more.

My question to you good people is:

In your opinion, what song / songs do you believe would go down well?? (Preferably a song that everyone can sing along to, one that everyone knows) Also it doesnt have to be a christmas song as I have a load of them nailed already. It just has to be something popular and lively.

I want to give a cd to my fave teacher for Christmas. I know that they like Bruce Springsteen, so I'm going to make a mix cd. I'm going to include Bruce Springsteen songs.

Do you think that this is too personal? They would better use out of this as opposed to a candle or a box of chocolates.

Also, if any Bruce Springsteen fans are reading this, what other artists have a similar style to his?

Seriously this mtv always has tings when teens go to clubs and it's hip hop. It's like..uhhh...why???

Is it all peer pressure? I'm sure even if these teens or adults like other kind of music, they wil deny it in front of their peers cause it's a peer pressure thing to like hip hop. Why not some other thing.

They even have hip hop in Japan clubs when most likely the Japanese people are stupid enough( to give into it cause it's a trend) and don't understand when these rappers say the B word and Hoes.. and all that.
