I fell in love with a simple bamboo pan-flute called a Siku. They are Peruvian in origin. The difference between this pan-flute and others is that all of the tubes are the same diameter. This induces a "windy" sound instead of a sharp tone. Those that play it say that it is preferred because it is like the winds of the Andes mountains. My Siku was broken when I moved back to the States and before I could learn to play it. Does anyone know of this instrument, where I can get the very long-jointed bamboo to make one and where I could get some help in learning to play it. I should have done this while in S.A. but.....
Has anyone else had the experience of listening to this beautiful sound?

I believe that alot of violence and poverty is based on the influence of hip hop. Any true lyricist will tell you hip hop is a culture and a culture is something you live. By no means will I blame for murders but music tends to make an impression on the weak minded. Whatever style these spit about and wear in these videos, a majority of my peers will go out and by the second they get some money in their pocket. Do you honestly think the music is only effecting our fashion choices? Those who are intellectually inept may not be able to rationalize, therefore making ignorant decisions based on the lifestyles of songs like "ILL Still Kill" and "One Mic". Plus the movie all hip hoppers seem to love is Scarface, which depicts the life of a cocaine boss leaving this world with guns blazing in both hands, like a G should.

Do you agree or disagree? Dont give me a biased answer based on your love for hip hop because if you read my name, I love hip hop as much as the other man.

I currently play the oboe, flute, tenor sax, and somewhat of the clarinet in my high school band, and I was wondering: would it be hard to switch to a brass instrument (namely tuba)? The two main instruments I play are the oboe and the tenor. I taught myself how to play both of them, and according to my band teacher, I'm skilled in both. It took me a few weeks to learn the tenor, and a few moths to learn/get a good sound out of the oboe.Our brass line in marching band is extremely weak, and less than half of them can play their instruments/parts. I know the school will supply a tuba for me, but my parents are hesitant to let me switch to another instrument, namely because I bought a tenor sax about a half a year ago, and they want me to stick with it for all four years in high school. Will switching to tuba mess up my embourchure for oboe? Is tuba a relatively easy instrument to learn? And how do I convince my parents to let me switch?
