In whatever field, players will always rise to the level of the input there. There was a vision there, certainly, but not every band had a guitarist with the immense skills that Pantera had.

Actually I would choose Alice In Chains over Pantera
I think most true metalheads however would pick Pantera simply because they were so crushingly heavy compared to all the other 90's Metal bands
Besides, what was their competition? The 90's gave rise to the ghastly horrific Nu Metal trend which was by far the worst thing to happen in metal history...Bleh...Gawdawful.

You're joking ,right? I could think of many more bands that were better than them. I was a metal head in the 80's & 90's & I don't know ANYONE that liked Pantera.

Many of the "Heavier" bands of the 90s were part of the grunge scene. If you like Pantera, you won't like the grunge scene Those two styles of music just don't co-exist, unless you're playing Rock Band.

they were pretty tough guys. they done none of that grunge mix and stuff. they were full on metal'eds.
i know so many people who still listen to em.
