I'm 30 years old, and I hit my teen years right as the word Grunge became well-known in the music world. Nirvana, Alice in Chains, NIN, Faith No More, Ministry, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Pantera, Jane's Addiction, Red Hot Chili Peppers, all were my heros as I ran away from home in my graffiti-covered Chucks that I refused to stop wearing even after they were falling apart and covered with duct-tape.

I, like so many of my generation, have had a very hard time finding ANYthing in the world of popular music that comes close to the edge and pure soul-baring rawness and anti-authoritarian attitude that these guys showed.

SOO... my question is this. What new music has been released in the past 5 or 10 years that might change my mind? I just gave up and stopped listening to anything new; I've got 52 days' worth of pre-1998 music on my iPod and that's normally fine with me but I want to have hope for the future. So this is a call to all you more advanced teens out there... GIVE ME HOPE!

I have satellite radio and some stations play the non-edited version of songs. It's funny how after all these years, I never knew that there were curse words in songs I have heard dozens of times on the radio. Here are 3 that I have come across. What are some others?
"You ought to know" Alanis Morrisette
"Jeremy" Pearl Jam
"Creep" Radiohead

"my girl gotta girlfriend" (No it is not the name of the song by Akon.) It is a pretty old song, I just thought about it, but can't remember what it is called. I think it also says (this may not be right, but anyways)...."Chevy blue like whirlwind"

Who can compare a rapper to a sandwich? I can. Lets see who else is able to do it.

For Example, Lil Wayne= Peanut Butter and Jelly because:

1)Everybody knows about him
2)Kids love him, but as an adult you kinda grow outta that
3) He's quick with songs (just like PBJ's are quick to make. slap some peanut butter on, then slap some jelly and your done)
4) People who are fans of him are getting the same taste everytime, but still love it.
5) He's good (like PBJ is), but he's not the best (like PBJ isn't)

any others?

A lot of songs around now are based on pieces of Classical music, can anyone tell me any?

Does anyone think the Shadows song Wonderful Land is based on Canon in D by Pachelbel?

You like the girl, but the girl doesn't like you, yet you're not ready to give it up just yet.
Does anyone know a good song to match those feelings??

yo, has anyone ever noticed before that the percentage of good white rappers (to whack ones) is WAY above the percentage for any other race (not like i'm a racist, I just noticed this today)..think about it, while most of the super whack rappers are white, a majority of white rappers (well, I'll have to do the math) are actually pretty good......damn..who could'a guessed?

Could someone please explain to me how Fred Durst was given a record label to run? How can something like this happen? How did he fool Geffen Records into giving him a vanity label (Flawless) under their umbrella? Does he have naked pictures of a high level executive? What makes him qualified to run anything considering how lame his band was? They could have saved money by hiring a chimpanzee.

This question that John M asked a little while ago inspired this. I had no idea about either of these explanations for Green Day's name:

Honestly I know very few stories of where band names are derived from. Do you know any interesting ones?
