Bittersweet Symphony? My friend wants to know, he says it sounds comtemporary (not really classical), opens with violins.. I don't really know any songs that sound like Bittersweet Symphony but if you know any let me know.

I'm looking for songs that are about moving forward into something new, and the emotions felt about it. They can be about the reluctance/sadness to leave, or about the joy of what's to come. They can also be bittersweet, or contain fear for the future/an apprehension to let go. Anything about moving away or leaving someone behind is great, as well as songs about graduation or getting older/growing up/coming of age. Songs about time passing are appreciated, too. I'm not looking for angsty break up songs.

Right now, I've got "Wide Open Spaces" by the Dixie Chicks, "Leaving on a Jet Plane" by John Denver, "Watching the River Run" by Loggins and Messina, "Roam if She Wants To" by the B-52s, "Turn! Turn! Turn!" by The Byrds, etc.

Any style/genre is perfectly fine.

ok, a while back some students from another country came to our school, i was asigned to do a slide show, but i don't know whats a good song, i don't want a crapy song,or a song full of rap with profanity. Came out sometime between 1998 through 2001. Band sounds like, but almost surely it isn't, The Cure. Really hot guitar sounds....and the only lyrics I can recall is something like ".....the light fantastic", tightly followed by that wild guitar sound(s).

The song was rarely announced--thanks to "automated radio", so it's a mystery to me who actually did it---but I've been on the search of it for years. I've been impressed with Yahoo Answers! finding far tougher songs.....hope this one presents an easy challenge for someone.

What is the name of the song that is in this particular i think GTD commercial or maybe a car commercial. They play the song also in the movie Old School at the wedding towards the beginning of the film. I don't know who the artist is as well. I know this question is somewhat vague too!
