Bittersweet Symphony? My friend wants to know, he says it sounds comtemporary (not really classical), opens with violins.. I don't really know any songs that sound like Bittersweet Symphony but if you know any let me know.

Actually the song Bittersweet Symphony sampled I think it was the London Philharmonic Orchestra's version of the Rolling Stones song "The Last Time". The Verve had to go to court over it. Not sure about the song you're talking about though, sorry!

I'd explore the sounds and works of The Electric Light Orchestra....and maybe dig into a bit of the Trans Siberian Orchestra as well.......somewhere there in your search, you'll find treasure. I promise.
