My 8 year old son really loves rap music but I don't know much about it and was wanting him to continue with his own style if at all possible. maybe there is someone out there that can help.

After a long discussion with a relative, I wanted to get another take on things. I don't believe in strict censoring of what my kids listen to. There are limits, of course. But on the whole I'm quite liberal about it. But according to said relative, the fact that I let my eight year old listen to Green Day, and let my five year old listen to My Chemical Romance makes me a bad parent, as it will ultimately turn them into little psychopaths when they are older. I, on the other hand, think that they shoulde be free to express their individual tastes in music, and enjoy what they like without fear of being pigeon-holed and stereotyped. I'd rather they were listening to 'real' music played on real instruments by bands that have a real feeling and passion for what they do, not overhyped manafactured garbage from some teenger from a reality show. What are your thoughts?

I thought it was called the Rock and Roll hall of fame because it housed Rock and Roll artists. So why are Rappers and MCs now being inducted? Doesn't this sound really wrong to anyone else? I'm not knocking Hip Hop or anything, but let the "street entreprenours" create thier own institution. If they are so "ballin" and "bling bling" they should have enough money to do so.

Ok, i posted this same question yesterday but here it goes: i was listening to sirius radio and this song came on. There was weird electric organ music for a minuite or two, but when the song started it had these great upbeat riffs. It was almost defenatly a 70's song. Pissibly Blue oyster cult? I dont know. BEcause it sounded like the riffs from the begining of dont fear the reaper almost.

I noticed one thing with the singing: Before the awesome guitar riffs, the singer said something like "Youre my...brown eyed girl". Now i know he dident sing brown eyed girl but it rhymed with that kinda. Thanks for your help.

Although having said that , Why do people who record music "insist" on putting swear words on their music, I know the likes of Rappers think it makes them look hard, but surely they would sell just the same amount if not more, by not swearing.

As for the sexual content of a video, I think it is unnecessary, again I can see why it is put on. Why can't recording artist bring back harmless videos, and funny ones at that?
