Ive been learning the piano (classical) since I was 5yrs old..and i grew up playing Bach, Mozart..
But, I have some friends (MAINLY guitarists) (not in the school) who play in a rock band, and the way that THey learn songs is pretty much, listening to CD's of the ORIGINAL band and COPYING..meaning they CANT read music at all but usually write down the chord names. So it would look something like this

F Bb F
Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound..(music2u?)

THey call themselves musical but cannot even tell me what a key signature is...or what a treble clef is! I think that the above is such a cheap 'easier' path to creating 'music'.
Us musicians can interpret scores and create art (result of human creativity not imitating a CD)
I, who grew up learning music the 'proper' way entailing full chord theory, cant help but feel superior
BTW, these bands might sound half good if they understood the concept of CHORD INVERSIONS

Plz comment

Or throw things at them? Dont those people have anything better to do than to publicly show their anger? I think they should spend money and time and effort on seeing the bands that they do like instead of ruining someone elses good time. I know everyone is entitled to their opinion, but doing this just goes too far. Actions are louder than words, right?

Today I was listening radio - 179.9 (something like this)...
And they played songs from 70th, 80th I think...
Everything I heard is... "Common without, common whithin, you're not .... nothing like ..... ...... queen". That' it.
If somebody knows what's this song's name - please let me know...
Thanks, Karina

I tuned 1st string of my student's guitar to E. i doubt its E or not.
I tuned the 2nd string pressing the A on the 1st string.
Problem is with the 3rd string. i tried to tune it pressing the D on the 2nd string.

I tighted the 3rd string to the maximum and found that the 3rd free string is the C in the 2nd string

is this way of tuning correct?
is A of the 1st string and 2nd free string of the same pitch or is it the next octave?

if they are the same, can someone help me with the matching ones in the previous string for the 2nd, 3nd, 4th, 5th & 6th strings coz for eg: there are two A's in the same string... i donno which one out of them.

I purchased an album by FM called TIME. Which consisted of Messrs Fleetwood and McVie plus Christime McVie and three individuals called Billy Burnett, David Mason and Bekka Bramlett. (The album was rubbish by the way). The next thing I know, Burnett, Mason and Bramlett have vanished and Buckingham Nicks have returned. How, when and why did this happen?
