Youre sooooo right! I can still remember, what seems a gazillion years ago, I was so excited to get front row seats to hear Harry Chapin, (way before your time, I'm sure). They had an unknown, come out to sing beforehand, to warm the croud up. The crowd began booing and chanting, "Get off the stage!" My heart broke for this tiny stature of a girl, standing there all alone, trying to sing her heart out. I felt so angry inside, I will remember it for the rest of my days. She never wavered, and sang through to the end of her song, quietly laid her guitar on the stage and walked off. I wanted to stand up and boo the crowd and tell her to come back and finish her songs.
She had the last laugh though. The concert with Harry Chapin was magnificent, and the young girl went on to become quite famous in the early 70's. Her name was Janice Eon, and the song was entitled, "When I was 17". I must say, I learned a bit from that moment, and knew when she hit it big, she had earned it!
As for all of those idiots that booed her, well, I can only feel sad for their ignorance , in knowing that they had truly missed a great moment in history.
Youre completely right though, it does just go too far, though I don't have a clue how to change such a situation, unless the concert halls start throwing them out. That in itself could begin a whole nother situation from the masses. I suppose artists just know they may have to endure such behavior and cosider it a test of their own charactors and abiblity to survive.

I'm not sure what you're referencing...something recently happening in the news?
I'm wondering what these musicians think when they start spouting political rhetoric and crap at a concert. Example would be Roger Waters...I love the Dark Side of the Moon, but don't particularly care about his politics one way or the other (if I agree or disagree with him)...I go to a concert to hear music, not a diatribe. Another example would be the Eagles...I like their music, but when I'm paying $40 minimum for a concert ticket, I don't want a 30 minute lecture about saving the eagles.
Now, if it was a political rally then I'd expect it, but when I'm paying to hear music, I'd rather not hear any personal opinions coming from any 'star'. Perhaps that's what happened at your concert? I'd probably be one to start shouting "SHUT UP AND SING!!!" LOL

hahaha...i have often thought about that too! It makes no sense. I heard a Type O negative live album where the singer guy was like "you payed 12 american dollars to see us..." or some amount of money...and the people were booing them...what in the world... maybe they boo when they don't like the opening act...i have witnessed that at a They might be giants show...it was really sad. The band that opened was Owlsley or something like that...so people didn't care about them...just the next band...or maybe at festivals where there are lots of bands...and you get to see some you like then throw crap at ones you don't...

a at the same time as in the past, Aerosmith's large come back (done with Mirrors excursion) the band The DiVynals were driving the crest of thier in trouble-free terms hit ( I contact Myself) and regardless of the lead singer flipping her skirt up, the target audience persisted to boo. At one aspect, she made the mistakes of declaring " We did not come the following to have issues thrown at us..a million" Which ended in them at present being pelted with each and everything that wasn't nailed down...
