For some reason I have an urge to buy some songs from the 50s. I like the sound, but never really listened to 50s music before. I'm only 26, so oldies for me is 80s music. Can you guys name some great tunes from yesteryear? Thanks.

I've been playing a piece of crap acoustic for about five years and i really want an electric guitar. RIght now, I'm looking at an Ibanez artcore am73, but theres an Epiphone Dot Deluxe for about the same price and i cant decide.

Any opinions? good/bad experiences with either guitar?

I'm a trombone playing the chello part. It's not like an improvished jazz solo.; I'm playing twenty measures alone. The melody! Any recomendations? Should I get someone to play with me? Should I bow out and have them abridge the song to the part where the rest of the orchestra/esamble plays?

I'm a jazz pianist and vocalist planning to record a CD. Locally known a little, I'm not in that coveted "inner circle," but on the fringe of it, wherein I sub occasionally for those who are, and thus get to play periodically with some local L.A. "greats." But all these musicians "releasing" their CDs - I have yet to know what that really means. Is it when you present it at a venue and invite your friends, who come and buy it and sign their names in a notebook so you know who bought it? Is that what constitutes it, when you are simply doing it on your own, with your own budget? Musicians, please give me YOUR definition of "releasing" a CD, by an independent, only locally semi-known, jazz artist. I'm 50, a good singer likened to Diana Krall, and a competent pianist though not virtuosic, which keeps me out of that "upper echelon" category. Thank you!... Nina
