How do you learn to play bass?

Do you need accompaniment to learn and practise playing bass guitar? I can understand how someone would learn guitar, since you can play a (hopefully!) pretty recognisable melody on it, but bass is puzzling me!! Thanks!

What are some cool dance songs? Kind of life YMCA, Takin Care of Business, Jack and Diane, or Foot Loose?

I want some fun songs to dance to.. ymca, takin care of business, jack and diane, are you gonna be my girl (jet), songs off of grease or dirty dancing, respect, foot loose, workin at the car wash, you shook me all night long, pour some sugar on me, hey mickey, fishin in the dark, sweet home alabama, shake your groove thing, space cowboy, and some other fun songs. Kind of like older songs but if there are some newer ones that are sort of like the ones I named then type em in. Thanks!

Who had the most positive effect on rock, Black Sabbath, The Beetles, or Led Zepplin?

I guess it really depends on what kind of rock you like, but let's hear it..

My choice would have to be Sabbath.
