practice in front of a small group (ten or fewer) of CLOSE FRIENDS - and have them critique you. I use this technique all the time. Another thing to try is to look at a specific point - such as a mural on the back wall - and don't take your eyes off of it.

Avoid the situation.

No matter how scary you think it is, it's going to be 100 times scarier when your up there.

Fake a cough or whisper and say that you lost your voice.

Knock something over and then run off stage.

Jim Morrison would turn his back to the audience when he first started. Try that.

I know exactly what you're going through. What I do, is I when I got on stage and I started to freak, I concentrated on one thing towards the end of the audience......whether it would be a clock, plant....anything but a person. I've learned now that I just psych myself up.....and go on stage and do it. So anyway, make sure you practice alot on stage...when no one is around. Make sure you've got them songs down.....then go on stage when it's your time and do it. You'll be fine.....don't worry. Have a great time....knock 'em out........best of luck.........

whilst i grew to become into in severe college I used to become fearful be for I performed. I did musicals and that i grew to become into no longer a lot of an actor, yet actual everyone instructed me I had a great voice. So i might pass up and do my lines and then pass into my songs and allow my fearful potential feed my overall performance. i got here across that I became extra comfortable the extra cases i grew to become into on degree, and the buzz is like no longer the rest interior the international. believe me I easily have executed skydiving, mountaineering, white water rafting, repelling, and none of those can discover ways to the buzz of occurring degree and appearing. whether I nonetheless I did good or undesirable i might constantly get carry of complements from contributors of the objective audience. one difficulty that I did detect is that i might desire to on no account get rid of the sensation of degree fright, yet i might desire to administration it. as long as you do no longer permit the sensation overtake you and administration then you definitely each thing would be high quality. know that quicker or later and time which you will cut back to rubble and the severe-high quality difficulty is that the objective audience won't in any respect know in case you conceal it and keep going. It looks such as you may desire to loosen up on your self (extra handy pronounced than executed) and purely purely remember to prepare. there will be cases which you will no longer purely like the way you performed, yet you may desire to ask your self who're you appearing for? The aim audience, or your self. in case you're doing it for your self then why problem appearing on degree.

Pretend that you are alone in the church singing by yourself or find someone in the audience that is familiar to you and when you feel nervous glance at them a few times....

A few things I've heard:
1) Pretend they aren't there
2) Pretend it's just one friend.
3) Imagine them in their underwear.
