Here are a list of sungs sung by the soldiers during the first world war. I would try to find one of them and put that in the presentation.

Depends on the mood you want to set... Many people make the mistake of picking music to be purely a background when it should be used to help set the mood.
Pictures and video can be used to manipulate an audience, the real trick is to pick music that will add to it, to get what I mean watch Blair Witch Project with no sound, think of sound as the canvas you want to apply your project to.

Patriotic - John Philip Sousa

Dramatic - Elgar or Dvorak

Symphonic - 1812 Overture Tchaikovsky

Sound Track Tunes - John Williams

A Barber's Adagio for Strings - William Orbit

It was the tune used in platoon when Willem Defoe Does the famous falling on his knees with hands raised as he is shot.
I know this is Vietnam but the music is very powerful and most people think of war when they hear it

The only one it could possibly be is Pachelbel's "Canon" not a tune as such but an incredibly evocative, appropriately sombre soundtrack. For an aeriel sequence you could try "The flight of the valkyries" depending on the text and mood .Good luck with it!
