There's a legend about Robert Johnson (famous blues singer) trying to sell his soul to the devil in exchange for success as a musician. Is there any truth to this? Most of these urban legends are so full of it. I know he sung about voodooish stuff like that in some of his songs, but not all songs are autobiographical.

What is your favourite Leonard Cohen song and why?

I like in particular the song 'Famous Blue Raincoat'. The words are haunting, and the tune is catchy. It often seems to play over and over in my head after I have heard it. It is a song that can be done equally well by female artists as by male ones. For example, Tori Amos has put out a good rendition of it.

It is really hard to pick a favourite, because Leonard Cohen has written and recorded so many songs. However, a few other songs of his that I particularly like are "Everybody Knows', 'First We Take Manhattan', 'Tower of Song' and 'Anthem'.
