Movies - 9 December 2006

When I first saw Nemesis it seemed very familiar:

Each has somebody from the past coming back for revenge

Each has a doomsday machine (though not its intention Kahn uses Genesis as such)

Each has the most logical thinking character giving his (its) "life" to save the lives of the rest fo the crew.

Before doing this he somehow "implants" a part of his mind into someone else (Bones and Pseudo-Data).

Is it just me or did Nemesis have the same basic plot line (with a few cosmetic changes) as The Wrath of Kahn?

(Though I still liked Nemesis, in my opinion no Star Trek movie beats part II)

I used to cram all the friends I could fit into my 72 Gran Torino Sport (and a few cases of brew) go to the drive-in and laugh my butt off. I saw the first 5 of each series as they came out and honestly can't remember most of them but I sure had some fun.

In the movie, Gimli seems stunned Moria is in ruins but obviously it had fallen long before. He acted as though he'd recently been there and all was well, yet the dwarf dead were dusty skeletons and the enemy seemed well established. That's hardly what you'd expect if the dwarfs had lost recently and if they'd been long dead, then wouldn't Gimli have known that?

The scene is one where legolas and gimli(the dwarf) are in a battle and counting aloud each kill they make in a contest. For example, legolas takes down a large tusked animal with multiple people on top and the dwarf says "that counts as one". I am pretty sure it is not the first movie. Please please do not just randomly guess one of the movies as a means of point getting.

The new guy that plays James Bond is actually a bit ugly facially, but he has a really nice physique that more than makes up for things. Therefore the average guy could be just as good if he put in enough effort to get a similar physique.
