I am trying to figure out what was a movie I watched when I was a kid. Probably an 80's film but may be from late 70's. It was about a man who created a machine that removed a person's soul from their body and stored in in a (glass jar?). While it was in the jar, the person could not die, thus became immortal. I think they did age, but could not die until the glass was broken and the soul was released. Anyone know this movie? If so pleese let me know. Thanks.

Last winter i was in Latvia with my brother and it was really cold, he had no gloves, but i was wearing two pairs like on dumb and dumber and then said you can have these extra gloves, like Lloyd says to Harry. He wasn't impressed, but i thought it was funny
