1st i dont think your racist and i dont think its a racist question :-)
I think they just casted him....just because. I would think people would get tired of seeing the same thing over and over again, and just wanted to shake stuff up..kind of like thinking outside the box. I dont think it matters if god should be played by a black guy, white guy, white woman, black woman or purple alien, just a good actor how has that special spark. the fact is its just a movie, not reality.

In Bedazzled? You must be mistaken. The original film had only a voice, and Elizabeth Hurley played the Princess of Darkness in the new one. Maybe you're thinking of Bruce Almighty?
No, wait. The guy in the jail cell. I don't think it was supposed to be God, just an angel, but maybe it was. Still, the reference to Bruce Almighty stands.

Probably just to p*** people off. Same reason Alanis Morissette played God in Dogma. Although I don't remember seeing God in Bedazzled. Are you sure you're not thinking of Bruce Almighty?

This is more a comment about the casting of Morgan Freeman in Bruce Almighty. I think Morgan Freeman was perfect for that role. Just because he seems so wise and stuff. But can still match Jim Carry's humor.

God is a black man(Morgan Freeman) in Bruce Almighty too, ask the director or the person in charge of casting. Who cares? why does a white guy play god in any movies in which a white guy plays god?

Because that is what the director wanted and the casting person hired. In the original movie God was just a bright room the devil visits.

If you have to pick a human to play God, then why not a black man? He's not any worse than any other race. It's probably because he impressed someone in charge of casting. Or he just knew somebody.

I think it depends on how the film makers percieved God. If they think of him as a black man, than they'll put him as a black man. Or if they think this actor will play the role well, than that might have been how they decided God is a black man.

Job 9:24King James Version (KJV)
24 The earth is given into the hand of the wicked: he covereth the faces of the judges thereof; if not, where, and who is he?
Revelation 1King James Version (KJV)
14 His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;
15 And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.
