I agree with previous answer, check out Heathers. It is an 80s movie so there is lots of big hair and shoulder pads, but it is still a great movie.
Jawbreaker is similar to Mean Girls too!
If you are after movies that are about 'cool groups' and acceptance in highschool, 'Can't buy me love' is good - with a very cute Patrick Dempsey.

The 80's version of "Mean Girls" is " Heathers" with Christian Slater and Winona Ryder. It is slightly morbid and quirky, a must see!
