Just watched this movie last night. There were times during the movie when I really liked it and others when I could not wait for it to be over. So I am overall undecided if I liked it or not.

Any comments about the movie and what was in the envelope??

Years ago, (I'm talking at least 15) I saw a film on tv set in the future and I'm pretty sure it had Kirsty Alley and Tom Sellick in it and there were small robot spiders in it and I think the machines slowly started to attack people or the govt. was making them do it, anybody know what it is?

I got to thinkin about it last night after watching a Tom Hanks marathon on TBS. My vote would be for him. Then it would be for Edward Norton - his performance in American History X was AMAZING.

Just like a comedy needs to be funny, isn't the point to be scary, sick, creepy, or terrifying?

Sure, every movie should have a good plot, good acting, and decent effects, but overall, shouldn't a horror movie be judged successful based on it's ability to scare, creep out, or make you say "ew?"

I've noticed that many reviewers have certain genres of movies that they enjoy (and review favorably) and genres of movies they clearly never enjoy (and always give a thumbs down to). Shouldn't professional movie reviewers be impartial or more general? Or, should there be multiple reviewers for different types of film?

I'm not saying every movie should get a good review.

I hate reading a bad review about comedies that do well at the box office and are popular among many people. You get the impression that the writer just doesn't like comedies. If you read them regularly, you get a feel for what they do like. I wish they would either remain impartial (not even reviewing movie genres they clearly don't like or know little about) or I wish there were more than one reviewer to accomodate different tastes.

I'm not just talking about comedies. I often read: "typical action flick," or "pointless horror slasher."

[possible spoilers]
With Hollywoods push for remakes, I think it would be interesting to write a screenplay that follows the Dick novel more closely... I know that the Ladd company and Warner Brothers are involved as well as The Blade Runner Partnership... do they hold onto the movie rights or at what point do those rights return to the original author (or do they ever)? Of course, I am a huge fan of the original motion picture and I wouldn't in any way disrespect the work done by Ridley Scott or anyone else that worked on Blade Runner. I just liked some of the concepts that weren't really touched on in the movie... like mercerism and the fact that Deckard was married... the 'other' police unit as well as the other android tests... the way the android corporation tried to debunk the VK test in an attempt to manipulate the system... and Deckard's motivation of retiring enough androids to buy a real animal.
