Hi there,

I wanted to find some movies (not R rated, if possible) that show life as it REALLY is in the United States, and not just how Hollywood portrays it. I have friends in foreign countries with a very unreal perception about America because of what they see in movies, and I want to show them that money does not grow on trees and that there IS poverty here, and that there are people who have to work hard to have what they have.

I've done web searches, but it doesn't bring too many results.

Anyone have any ideas?

ok does anyone remember that movie about a ANT that doesnt fully develope like the rest of his classmates LOL and then fakes it and gets caught...then at the end he developes his last ant bump LMFAO i dunno i was just tryn to remember it...it was like 12-15 years ago LOL

They have done ants, bees, mosquitos, and among others, but it seems no one has ever had the guts to do roaches. Is it because of how intense the gross factor would be?

I could imagine because I have seen The Nest (1988), about killer normal size roaches infecting a small town. There was a couple of half-breed roaches in it (a cat roach and life-size human roach, the latter turning out to be a jumbled mess of work rather than something very original). Men In Black does not count. That was a giant animated cockroach, it didn't look realistic. Mimic does not count either, those were not roaches, the plot dealt with a plague being spread by cockroaches so the scientists created an insect called the Judas Bug to eliminate the roaches, but they ended up getting bigger and taking human form. So Mimic was basically about giant cockroach EATERS and not roaches, heck they don't even look like giant roaches, more like ants with wings.

One exception is a grotesque scene from a freddy film.

(C) Mine would be based on this guy who meets his wife in a piano room and plays her Clair De Lune. They have kids and they realise he's the next Horowitz. He's 11 and entered into this important piano competition for the chance to study at Julliard, but he meets this girl and falls head over heels for her. He knows he can win but he purposely makes a mistake so that the girl can win. The rest of the film follows his life through him desperately trying to be recognised to him giving up and dropping everything and moving to china, broke and despondant. But he rediscovers his love of music and plays in the back alley bars etc etc

in other words, i am talking about those who you've seen in numerous films and who get, like say minor roles, or appear in non-traditional hollywood films. the not so A-list celebs that not everyone has heard of. so that excludes people like tom cruise, orlando bloom, nicole kidman for example. what films do you enjoy that they have starred in and, if you can what is it about their performances that makes them stand out from the rest?

What part of the movie is this? The begining middle or end?
I have only seen a little bit of the movie and dont remember this part but i thought that when they switched the mean brother for the one in the mask they killed the mean one cuz he was caught in a fire or something.
