A fading star known to be sterile and rumoured to be gay "sires" a child (God knows how? Shades of Michael Jackson?) He is a spokesman for Scientology - a cult religion that maintains we all came from outer space, and decreeing that women must be gagged while giving birth, including his wife, so as not to 'disturb' the baby with their cries of pain.
He hides the baby for five months until "the public" believes it doesn't exist. He is fired by his studio for strange behaviour. Then Vanity Fair, a once-respected magazine, gives him their cover and 22 pages.
I don't care about Cruise, but I care about journalism, and to me this is not journalism, but sheer public relations or damage repair. Should a respected magazine do this?
