What is the history of spoof movies?

I had a discussion with some friends about other spoof movies, and I came to the question.. what were some classical spoof movies? What was the first spoof? The one that comes to mind is "Airplane!", but I think there were some before it.

What is up with all of the chipmunk songs?

Why does everyone feel the need to turn EVERY song they've EVER heard into making it sound like Alvin and The Chipmunks? do people like that? I mean I just don't understand it, what is wrong with the original? If someone could clarify for me that would be great!

GAP AD: Wouldn't it have just been in the Christmas Spirit to at least allow everyone to MUTE or PAUSE it?

But NO....I've looked, there's no way to silence the damned thing. I'm returning the GAP gift card and sweaters I got for my relatives tomorrow, and I will mention this lousy annoying ad to the Customer Service clerk as the main reason! I'm gonna swap the money and hit the Old Navy or Penney's store down the hall....grrrrrrr!!
