But NO....I've looked, there's no way to silence the damned thing. I'm returning the GAP gift card and sweaters I got for my relatives tomorrow, and I will mention this lousy annoying ad to the Customer Service clerk as the main reason! I'm gonna swap the money and hit the Old Navy or Penney's store down the hall....grrrrrrr!!

It is soooo freakin' annoying ain't it!!!! But look close, it does have a faded, translucent white pause / play symbol in the bottom right corner that you can pause it with. Sometimes it takes you to the webpage in another window which is even more annoying, but be persistent and hit that little pause button again, it will STOP! Whew, that spells relief!!!
OMG wait, I've just found another better and easier solution... simply hit the refresh button and a different non-annoying ad will appear on the page!!! If you're using the main answer to view the list of questions, just hit refresh right away so you don't lose the lineup.

Yes, it is sad they allow Ads with sound on this particular site. I plan to write The Gap and probably will sell my Stock in that company.

You can pause, but only after a few seconds and you have to do it every time you load a new page.

Yes there is, switch over to http://ca.answers.yahoo.com/question/ You see all the same stuff, you profile is the same, nothing changes, but the GAP ad is GONE!!! YAY!!!!
