Let's face it. True metal died in the 90s. What now remains are empty shadows, excluding only a few. Today rock still exists, but with a 75% ratio of overall crapulence. What happened? Every time (yes, EVERY TIME) I watch MTV2 or Fuse to see some rock or metal videos, I end up listening for 30 seconds and flip the station in disgust. Bands now wear wierd goth/emo clothes with frilly colored hair... and glitter (I'm looking at you, AFI). They scream and whine like it's the end of the world, about stupid sh*t. Bands like Nickelback (just the same songs over and over again), Trapt (not even worth the pixels in thier name), and GODSMACK, as well as thier own pathetic followers all follow formulas in thier music. Album after album, song after song; they still sound the same. The genres of rock and metal simply cannot evolve in our current situation. The way things are going, does anybody else fear that our beloved, and once-dominant genres will be dead within the next 20 or so years?
