Why does it seem all women want to be stick figures rather than rubenesque?

Well I don't want to be a stick figure gal.(and I'm not)
I think that fashion has driven women to want an unrealistic body type. Remember these are children basically. Most fashion models are under 30. This is hard to maintain.
Now we shouldn't be grossly and dangerously overweight that's just playing with fire but as we age there is nothing wrong with having a little bit under the skin to keep us looking healthy.
I have never thought the skinny crone look very attractive. It isn't healthy to get too skinny. Your bones for one depend on you carrying a bit of body fat against osteoporosis.Hormones get out of whack if you are too skinny or too fat. Your face will stay more fresh and have fewer wrinkles if you maintain a bit of body fat. Not a dangerous amount of course but enough to keep you from looking brittle.
My husband loves my curves and I have a very active lifestyle.
I walk to and from work and my work is very physically demanding. I have pretty good muscle tone.

Because that is what they see in magazines & are told by dieticians which is complete crap. Just because a woman is larger or has a bit of a pot belly they are taught they are unattractive & undesirable as the women who are thin . I prefer a big woman who has an ample figure as do many other men & i believe if these rubenesque women had met a man who was loving her for who she was rather than calling her fat or other horrible names & teasing than i believe they would be less likely to want to be anything other than who they are.

Well unfortunately, today's society has put the skinny women on the top of popularity list. People, men and women, make such a huge deal out of what we look like, that girls strive to be what people gawk over. But I on the other hand, don't want to be stick skinny...I personally think women with just a little meat on their bones are beautiful and more realistic. I can't help but roll my eyes everytime I hear a skinny girl in a restaurant say "Ew! No I'm not eating that! I'll get fat!" Shut the f*ck up and eat something! Geez! Eating food is not evil.

Depend on what the culture at large likes.

In Africa, Rubenesque is good. Women aren't consdered "marry-able" until they've actually proven they can have a child - and skinny women aren't looked at as likely candidates.

Plus, a plump wife shows the world that you're prosperous (i.e. can afford food aplenty)

Because men heed the same social proliferations as women-- ie, if it says that thin is beautiful, men think thin is beautiful. Maybe even if its not so direct, their minds will still be influened by the photos on magazines etc and learn to see those stick figures as attractive. So, though curvy is not fat or ugly, they just dont put those figures in the attractive box... Men everywhere profess how "sexy" the FHM, and runway models and so on are- and they are all flat as planks!!!

Because society has brainwashed us as little girls that to be stick thin is to be liked, popular, and all round better. Only when we start thinking for ourselves do we know that this is not true and there are even some men out there who PREFER curvaceous women.

Why do you have to generalize? ALL WOMEN don't want to be stick figures. I think stick figures are silly looking. I have a more athletic body and I'm proud of that.

because thats what guys seem to like. i like me for who i am, curvy and rubenesque. i don't care what others think of me.
