My partner and I disagree amiciably about the grammar in the following sentence. "Australian couples say friendship and companionship is the best thing about their relationship". I think "IS" is the correct verb used. He says "are" is the correct verb. I think "is" is correct because they are talking about "one" thing - singular. He says that the combination of friendship and companionship require a plural verb i.e. "are".
Thank you - let's see who wins this one.

When you are seeking a particular outcome and inadvertently your input creates an outcome that is different from what was desired but no less desirable (For example seeking cure for aids and find the cure for cancer, trying to make a new kind of gas and instead make a tasty drink).

I need a word that contains the letter "L" in the first part of the word, "phi" somewhere in the middle, and the letter "E" somewhere towards the end. For example lophine is a real word. I need real words, they dont necessarily have to start with an l and end with e. But the orders of the three have to be that order.

I've been using the seemingly fictitious word "intricle" for 25 years and I'm just now realizing that it's not in the dictionary! I've taken 4 years of college Writing classes and this has never come up before! What is the word I'm really trying to use??? It's used like this:

Ravioli is an intricle part of my diet.

I use it to mean a cross between important and inseparable.

Look up intricle on Google and you'll see tons of other people using it just like me!

Wow!

Dear Tech Support:

Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and
noticed a slow down in the overall performance, particularly in the flower and jewelry applications that had operated flawlessly under Boyfriend 5.0. In addition, Husband 1.0 un-installed many other valuable programs, such as Romance 9.5 and Personal Attention 6.5, but installed undesirable programs such as NFL 5.0 and NBA 3.0. And now Conversation 8.0 no longer runs, and House Cleaning 2.6 simply crashes the system. I've tried running Nagging 5.3 to fix these problems, but to no avail.

What can I do?

Sincerely,
Desperate

The seat next to me is "adjacent" to me. What about the seat one more space away from me? How do you say it in English?

e.g.
---A-B-C-D---

A is adjacent to B, but how do you call seat C in terms of A?
