A portfolio is a collectionof papers or pix. eg A model's portfolio is a collection of pix of herdself showing the work she has done that she can show to prospective employers
A stockbroker might have a portfolio of investments.
Disdain is scorn, belittling.. To treat someone's work with disdain is to treat it as worthless. Hope this helps.
