If you can dream and not make dreams your master ;
If you can think and not make thought your aim ;
If you can meet with triumph and disaster;
and treat those two impostors just the same ;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken;
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools;
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And Stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools;

Were doing a presentation on this poem 'If" and im going to explain all the stanzas whiles my partners are doing the tone etc etc etc and so on...this is the second stanza...

I can never remember the word for describing someones attributes by a non-literal example eg Richard the Lion Heart - he was brave, he did not literally have the heart of a Lion. It's not "allegorical", it's something else. eg Heart as big as a mountain etc. Help me out, first in best dressed !

How many sounds does the English language use? What are those sounds? For instance, if you wanted to create a phonetic alphabet, with one character being used for one sound, and no cross-over (ie... a one-to-one relationship), how many characters would that alphabet need? I've got a chart that says whether the 'h' is a glottal stop, etc... and I have the little chart that shows where vowels are voiced (looks like a semi-collapsed trapezoid).Is there a comprehensive source for this on the internet?

THANKS!!!
