objects with personality?

hey guys i was wondering wat you think the effect of personification on a story does. for example if something was given a good human quality, do you think of a person that has that same quality that you like and whats its effect?

Most definitely! A personification of a giant oak tree, with spreading branches providing shelter & sustenance, as a strong,
dependable, reliable & trustworthy person for example.
A story of such a tree would engender many interesting similes.
