I'm writing a paper on colour idioms and I need to explain and exemplify them. As you can notice I'm not a native speaker and I need help with some of them:
- black humour
- a white night
- black economy
- white-livered
- like white on rice
I just need you to use them in a sentence.
Thank you

You know how it is. Someone says something like, "I saw him literally pick her up with one hand." Wouldn't "actually" be appropriate?

Why is it that when somebody says something that is familar to you, that you go 'that rings a bell!'

Or when someone is telling you something that seems like a fib, 'your pulling my leg!'.

What are they all about? Do they have a meaning?
