An author is someone who writes poems, stories etc. That is, this person's own thoughts on a matter is documented. This definition can also be used for a writer but a writer, can also mean a person who documents ideas that are not necessarily his own. For example, a secretary who is told by her boss to construct a letter, the boss dictates what the letter says, therfore while the secretary is the writer (she literally pens the letter) she is not the author since the contents of the letter expresses her boss' ideas and not her own

Some people have inborn talents so you may be a writer and you don't know all you have to do is explore all the posibilities and you might just discover that you are one.

Try writing some poetry at first and then venture into short stories you might just surprise yourself.

Ask someone to read then and edit then because if you judge them for yourself you might think they are no good when in truth they might turn out to be great. Give it a try. All the best my writer.
