The one that made me laugh was 'bombproof' - to anyone in the horsey world this means a horse that doesn't get frightened easily, but if someone takes it literally, they might be picturing an armoured horse or something! I found this hilarious, any more funny examples?

For example:
1) Joining the band wagon
2) Using statistics (even flase, just to throw dust in eyes)
3) Reference to opinion of some guru :)))
4) Using phrases like "even a fool knows/understands it"

I need this for my scientific papers.
Excuse me for my possible English errors, I`m not a native speaker
Preferably want to receive "language tricks" rather than psychological ways of persuasion.
Short Examples are welcome! I guess it wil be more interesting for all participants.
Thanx in advance!

I invented a new word. It is a word conveying great respect. Use it on your teachers, friends, high ranking officials, etc. The word is "utter plucker." It means, person of great respect. For example: Mr Senator sir, you are a great American, and a true utter plucker if I've ever seen one, etc.

Please begin to use this word freely. You can also use it as a verb...you did an utter plucking good job of that Senator Jones, etc.

Unfortunately our generation is confused by a number of words that now seem to be common with the current younger generations. One of those words is "minging" and we'd like to know what it means.

Just what the question says. I heard it in a movie but can't make much out of it. It'd be great if you gave me some examples, and if has more than just 1 meaning, please let me know too.

Could you please give me a simple definition of "to owe"? I can't think of an easy way of explaining it to my students.
Thanks!
