For the next week I have a Secret Santa and we are supposed to not only get the person gifts but also leave little uplifting and inspiring messages with the gifts. And I don't really know this girl, so I just wanted to leave generally beautiful quotes that will inspire her to have a better day or that will make her feel better about herself. Do you know of any?

"Yes, we did produce a near perfect Republic. But will they keep it?
Or will they in their enjoyment of plenty, lose the memory of freedom? Material abundance without character is the surest way to destruction. Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just."

“When we see the sorrow that lies ahead of joy, we do not look beyond it, but rather into it, not realizing what is to come after our troubles, but observing our difficulties for the duration of the sadness. If we focus our attention more so after the anguish, then we come to appreciate and absorb that of which we once grieved. Therefore, if we grasp the message given to us, we will comprehend why we suffered so, and gain ourselves an understanding from it.”

I’ve heard a quote by Groucho Marx that translated into Spanish goes: “¡Hay tantas cosas en la vida más importantes que el dinero!¡Pero cuestan tanto!” In English it should be something like “There are many things more important than money! But they are so expensive!”

I’ve been looking for the original English quote for a whole a week, but I just can’t find it! Does anyone know it?
