It means something is a registered Trade Mark
Other people cannot use the brand name without designating it as a Trade Mark, such as if I wrote that I needed a Band-Aid (TM) I would have to use the "TM" to acknowledge that someone owns the rights to the name "Band-Aid" (Johnson and Johnson, I believe). Or I could simply say I need an adhesive bandage, but who says that?
