4. Exactly 6 months from today you deposit $1,200 . Then, exactly 10 months from today you deposit $1,100 . Your account earns annual interest of 8.8% compounded monthly.
There are no other deposits or withdrawals and finally, exactly 16 months from today, you withdraw the entire accumulation. How much total interest did the account earn?

a. $96 b. $116 c. $128 d. $105 e. $140

I got 142 here:

1200(1+ .088/12) to the 10th power= 1291

1100(1+ .088/12) to the 6th power= 1149

1291-1149=142

6. In exactly 10 months a bill of $13,700 is due. Today you deposit money such that if the account earns a target rate of return of 0.86% per month, the bill is perfectly financed.
Unfortunately, your account earns 30 basis points less than your target. When the bill is due, how much money do you lack?

a. $442 b. $589 c. $402 d. $487 e. $535

I got 403 on this one:

13700/(1.0086)to the 10th=12,575

12575(1.0056)to the 10th=13297

13700-13297=403

Hi! I realize that getting good grades in college is important for being competitive in getting internships and jobs, but what happens if your grades are average? My GPA is about a 3.1, although I have a feeling it might go down a little bit this semester. I feel like I am beating myself up about it. If my grades are just average, how negatively will that impact me on the job market? How important is GPA with employers? I'm a Journalism major, by the way. Any advice would be great.

Im taking an intermidiate algebra class and working on Ch 8: Systems of Equations i have to solve by graphing. for example, x + y= -3 and 4x - y= -2. Now, I solved for y on both equations which has an outcome of y = -3 - x and y = 2 + 4x. My problem now is that i have to make three ordered pairs for each equation just that i dont know what has to be used to substitute for x. Ive gone through my book i do see there are various ways but how do they come upon choosing those intergers. Im so confused please help.

I have been thinking about this question alot lately. As a 16 year old sophmore, I have gone through countless of school assemblies teaching the danger of drugs and the immorality of cheating. But, at the end of the day, when I see kids jokign around about it, I have to wonder...do this things really worK?
I would like very honest answers about this, as I am considering writing a school news article on teh subject. ALSO, if anyone knows of any websites that I can get data that relates to this, I would really appreciate you telling me :)
