I have been thinking about this question alot lately. As a 16 year old sophmore, I have gone through countless of school assemblies teaching the danger of drugs and the immorality of cheating. But, at the end of the day, when I see kids jokign around about it, I have to wonder...do this things really worK?
I would like very honest answers about this, as I am considering writing a school news article on teh subject. ALSO, if anyone knows of any websites that I can get data that relates to this, I would really appreciate you telling me :)

Its ridiculus. Its a way for parents and society to "feel good" and to think it makes a difference. Your own upbringing will dictate how you behave and whether or not you choose to do drugs or cheat. To me its a waste of time and tax dollars. The federal government has spent billions on the war on drugs. What has it done?

They do work atleast as far as, it does reach some students whether it's just a few out of the whole bunch or an entire chunk of students. Many joke around about it, sure, but they may just be acting up around their friends to seem all macho and ultra cool. most students with a half a brain know what's good and bad for them

There was an anti-drug program called Care Bears or something like that. They succeeded in teaching kids to recite slogans.

Yes they work. They can always be improved.
It is important to understand that children may joke about something in-order to better understand it.
Also schools should not overload children with these programs as children may not respond positively to something that is forced upon them. Brain washing doesnt always work. Children should make the decisions for themselves. We should show give them the info to do so.
