Why are there hardly any Native American restaurants (even in NM & AZ), even as other ethnic restaurants abound?

When dining with larger groups, frequently a bill includes "mandatory" gratuity in the amount of 17-20 percent. I do not have an issue with this added gratuity since it is a posted policy that is (typically) clearly printed. However, I've seen several instances of restaurants charging gratuity on the TAXED amount of the bill. This seems odd to me since the taxed portion does not relate to the service provided. For example, if a dinner bill sub-total (party of 6, let's say) is $200 and the local/state sales tax is 8 percent, the taxed amount would be $216. Let's also say that an 18 percent gratuity is included. In my mind the gratuity should be $36 ($200 X 0.18). But what I often see is a gratuity on top of the taxed amount of $216 (in this case) which would translate to $38.88. What gives?

Everytime I eat at Denny's, I get the runs. I wouldn't keep going there except there is nothing else open late where I live. Is it just me, or do you get sick there too? Do they put laxative in the food? What's the deal?

I am thinking about taking out three of my friends, now that we're all 21, for some authentic Mexican food, and some good margaritas. (I recently enjoyed such an experience with my parents.) Chevy's and Chili's are the only two I know of that are close by. It also appears on Chevy's web-site that their margaritas contain whole ice-cubes instead of finely crushed ice. Is this true? Thanks.

We might be in Laguna Beach California for my husbands birthday, the last couple of weeks he has been hinting he wants to go to Old Chicago for his birthday because of the traditional deep dish pizza, the kind they make in pie pans. If we're in Cali we can't go I was thinking of suprising him by taking him to BJ's but I don't remeber if their pizza is REAL deep dish pizza.

I think most people are unaware of this... so think about it next time you are tipping.. your server depends on your tips for her bills, kids, etc. 2.33 an hour ends up being nothing on pay day. Most servers do not recieve a pay check because after claiming their tips for the week the entire 2.33 goes toward taxes.

Most of the time I'll leave a buck and it doesn't bother me, I'd just like to hear what you think. This question came to my mind when I found this little casual Japanese/sushi place where you walk up to the counter to order and pay right away, then go to the self serve tea, soup, and silverware area. They bring the food to you and clear your table afterwards.

There were about 100 flys on the wall near the register ....everywhere...
So as I'm ordering I mentioned it to the 17 year old girl taking my order..."God ..you got alot of flys in here".....

I will be going to a convention in Wilkes-Barre, PA in August at the Wachovia Arena. What's cool in the area? I love Chinese food and Latin food. What restaurants do you recommend? Any malls in the area? Wal-Mart?

I just saw a commercial for it. I was just wondering if that only applies for the morning or all day? I know it's a limited time offer. Also, in order to get the pancakes, you need to order eggs and bacon or other...there are 3 types of meals according to the website. Does any know how much each one costs?

Also what type of cusine does this restaurant have? Price? MOST IMPORTANT, WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND FROM THE MENU.

Please no Chain establishments. I am looking for something off the beaten path. We travel a lot, and love to try out something different.

Am I wrong to state that in general as a chain, the Cheesecake Factory is the best restaurant out there? Who is with me and which ones have you eaten in? I have been to the Palisades Mall in New York, White Plains in New York, and the one in Providence.
