My computer has been mercilessly restarting on me all day and for a good portion of last night. I'm running Windows ME (yeah, I know), with a nearly 1 Ghz processor and 256 Megs of RAM. Some of it's most popular methods of restarting seem to be giving me the Blue Screen of Death and saying "Windows protection error, system has been halted, you need to restart your computer" or something to that effect. Sometimes, it freezes up and these odd short green vertical lines will appear across the top of the screen.

Occasionally, it also just flat out restarts on me with no warning whatsoever.

Is this a common problem among ME users? I'm stuck with ME as a system because I bought the comp used and don't have the money to upgrade. What can I do to stabalize this damn thing?

My instant messaging screen with my contacts is gone and the only thing up is Yahoo with voice and it wont sign on. I really dont want Yahoo with voice. I wont use it. I just want my instant messaging back. I need to instant message tomorrow with my son in Irag via a conference/webcam email and I am most unhappy as I just came home from vacation to discover my instant messaging gone and being unable to sign on. Please help, QUICKLY!!

Is Y!M down? It won't log in for anybody I know. I even had a problem getting anywhere on the Y!M main page. Does anybody know if the servers are down, if they're doing something to it, like maintnence?

I seem to be having a problem logging onto messenger. I deleted the program, and reloaded it, but i still can't log on. In fact I don't even have a messenger icon anywhere except on my desktop and my tray at the bottom right of the screen. any one have any idea what is going on?

It seems that most of the people asking the dam questions about messenger are new, and I know that if you search a question it brings you here. So, I really think it's a Yahoo trick and that it could all be working fine but they want more people all addicted to this like we are.
